Introduction

The degree in Psychology aims at training students with a solid formation in the core areas of Psychology and other related areas, which will provide the necessary global and integrated understanding of human behaviour.Over the course of study, emphasis will be given to reflexive and participative practices, progressive contact with different contexts, as well as to formal and informal spaces of development. Internationalization is also a key aspect, namely under the Erasmus Mobility Programme.Besides a set of core compulsory curricular units, the elective curricular units allow students to deepen their interests in a self-tailored pathway.The European Diploma of Psychology sets the rules concerning the profession. According to these,  should graduates want to be awarded the professional position of Psychologist, they must proceed further studies in a 2nd cycle in Psychology, choosing one of the following specializations:
  • Educational Psychology
  • Clinical and Health Psychology
  • Labour and Organizational Psychology

Job Opportunities

According to the Statutes of the "Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses" and the European Diploma in Psychology, which regulates the training of psychologists in Europe, the formation of the 1st cycle is not sufficient for professional practice of psychology. When you finish this degree, students wishing to pursue a career in this field must get a Master degree (2nd cycle) in Psychology. At the University of Evora is an opportunity to further study at Masters degree (2nd cycle) and Doctoral degree (3rd cycle) in Psychology in the following specializations: Educational Psychology, Clinical and Health Psychology, and Labour and Organizational Psychology.

In addition, this 1st cycle allows access to 2 cycles in other scientific areas, as well as the entrance and professional activities in various careers and positions that require the degree of bachelor, namely in social sciences, science education, health sciences, business management or human resources.
